The shamanic apprenticeship

• This is a year-long program taught virtually using a password-protected section of this website. Each week includes a lesson from my course in the Elder Futhark runes, a lesson in shamanic studies, and assigned reading. A live weekly class call by Zoom is recorded and covers discussion of the weekly work and reading. This apprenticeship is taught in the spirit of the Old Norse and Northern tribes with rune teacher and mystic shaman, Jenn Poniatowski.

• The program is a full immersion in Norse Mythology, the Northern shaman’s cosmology, and spiritual alchemy. The apprentice will learn fundamental shamanic healing modalities such as soul retrieval and extraction, the use of tools such as the Völva’s staff, and how to conduct sacred ceremonies.

• You do not have to have studied with me before to apply for this apprenticeship, but if you have already taken the Norse Rune class you will be all the more prepared.

• Learning shamanism through a combination of written, online material, recorded guided journeys, class calls and practice is effective and transformative. Please note that in signing up for this apprenticeship, you will get out of it what you put in. It is a commitment and a sacred contract between you and Spirit.

• The rune course component includes a recorded, guided journey/meditation to each of the Elder Futhark runes.

• You will receive periodic one on one rune journeys with me. These are one-hour rune readings and a shamanic journey that is inspired by the reading, with a follow-up call.

• Spirit Guides — if you don’t know your guides, meeting them and learning to work with them will be a task early on. You may also find that you have new guidance specific for this course! As a mythologist, most of my spiritual guidance comes from divine archetypal figures. In working with me, you may find your own relationship to these deities grows and deepen in new ways. As part of this program, you will learn to navigate the other worlds with confidence, wonder, and a deeper appreciation for the Universe.

• You will need an Elder Futhark rune set, cloth for casting your runes on, and the Hermetic Tarot (purchase new!). There is a reading list you will be provided with upon registration.

Fees and Other Details

• The format for the shamanic apprenticeship follows a pattern of five weeks of class with a two-week integration until we are done! The weekly calls are conducted using Zoom conference calling. These calls are recorded and available for download by students. You can connect through a computer or phone. The day and exact time of the calls will be determined by time zones and availability of teacher and students. It is possible we will have calls that alternate between times. If you can attend every other call, that would keep you up to date as long as you are able to tune into recordings later.

• Other areas covered will include shamanic dreams and dreamwork, past life exploration, shamanic tools, mystic life, and spiritual alchemy.

• There are seven stages in the spiritual alchemy way. Each is marked by potent, universal symbols and changes upon your life. It begins with the fire and the flood and ends with a birth of the divine child or attainment of the “Philosopher’s Stone.” Those who enjoyed the book “The Alchemist” or have some interest in the subject may be especially drawn to this component of the apprenticeship. As the student encounters the stages in their life, they experience a continual process of purification and empowerment until the changes become permanent. I include this section in our apprenticeship because I believe it is most useful to our understanding of the archetypal shifts that occur in life.

• For those that feel a calling to this path and course at this time, we will schedule a one hour call via phone or Zoom to ensure we are a good fit. My course is designed to be inclusive of people from all walks of life and to create an environment of curiosity, willingness to drop old stories that no longer serve in a community of non-judgement.
